City Comptroller Scott Stringer has snagged the endorsement of uptown Congressman Adriano Espaillat in his run for mayor.
Stringer, who grew up in Washington Heights, revealed Tuesday that Espaillat would be backing him in his 2021 run.
Espaillat, who’s represented the heavily Hispanic neighborhood for years, cited Stringer’s record on helping immigrants as a key reason behind the endorsement.
“I know Scott will tackle the disparities laid bare by COVID-19, and lead a recovery that ensures no one is left behind,” Espaillat said. “As comptroller, Scott has worked tirelessly for immigrant entrepreneurs and to make city government a bulwark against attacks from the Trump administration.”
Stringer has received endorsements from several progressives in recent weeks, including from Assembly members Yuh-Line Niou, Jessica Ramos and Brian Kavanagh.
